Let's tell some love stories!

What I'm looking for in this volume are real-world graphic novel short stories of romance, true or assumed, successful or tragic.

What I'm not looking for are historicals, fantasy, or any other "genre" approach.

Platinum's looking to construct a collection of comics stories that will appeal to modern romance readers who may never have seen, let alone read, comics. We want these stories to be inviting and familiar.

Let's get some new people reading comics!

While I certainly want to construct a book that will appeal to anyone, here's our fictional target audience:

The woman who watches soaps, reads "lite" romance fiction, spends time online with her friends, and dreams of the perfect romantic partner. She's young, ambitious, and determined to hold on until Mr. (or Ms.) Right comes along, even if she has to trawl for him online. She does Pilates, attends gourmet cooking classes, and hosts the neighborhood holiday open house. She has an eclectic circle of friends and a far-flung family. She's going to run across a copy of this book in her local coffee shop, or read a preview story online. Fascinated by the format, she'll order a copy and read her first comics since that pile of Archies in junior high.

Let's create some memorable characters!

What's Platinum Studios hoping to accomplish?

Platinum Studios is a film and TV production company that bases all its projects on comics. Part of their reason for being is the creation of a stable of interesting concepts that can be translated into other media. The goal of this set of stories is the creation of interesting and lasting characters introduced in the context of one story but with the potential to outlive their first appearance.
